Hope to see you on June 27 to carpool!

Our next GEN meeting at FPC will be on Monday, July 18, at 6:30 p.m. We are not meeting on the July 4th holiday.

How can we pray for you? Email jane@fpcdouglasville.org for confidential prayer requests, or leave a comment on this blog and your fellow jobseekers will pray.

We're Inspired!

We had a great meeting last night at GEN. Businessman Lance Brooks spoke to the group about staying motivated and positive during the job search. Basing his discussion on the book of Mark, chapter 5, Lance gave us these points to think about:

1. Don't fear. The first thing Jesus told a little girl's parents, when they came to him to ask for her healing, was, "don't fear." God wants us to go through our job search without fear, too, simply trusting Him to deliver us--because He will.

2. Only believe. Jesus also told the parents of the child to believe. Let's not hope we get a job when we go to an interview, Lance said. Let's believe!

3. Surround yourself with positive people.

4. Speak life into your dream. Keep yourself encouraged by thinking and speaking positively. You will get a job!

5. Feed your miracle. Do your research. Strategize. See how others succeeded in starting a new business, finding a new career, etc, and follow their examples. Get out and stay busy.

Thanks again to Lance for coming!

warehouse needed ASAP - temp to psbl FT with benefits!

Thanks to Trish for this lead:

A facility has hourly positions open at the moment for Case Pickers. This is warehouse work, so hot in summer and cold in winter, and very physical work. It is located off of Fulton Industrial, so close to Douglas County.

In order to be hired you will need to pass a background check and drug screen.

Please  contact Abacus Staffing/Bob Satkovich at 678-432-3600 or 678-271-7532 and tell them you heard about job through GEN and Trish.   This will speed up the process a little.

You're Not Seeing Double - GEN's Schedule for June

Nope, you're not seeing double--we're just re-posting the info below. It ran several days ago, but we're putting it up again to make sure you have all the info you need to join us at the next GEN meeting.

Our next GEN meeting will be on Monday, June 20 at 6:30 pm at First Presbyterian Church. We'll meet in Room 203. We are going back to our original time! Invite your friends and neighbors who are unemployed or underemployed.

Come and talk with motivational and inspirational speakers, Lenoia Murphy and Lance Brooks, a wife and husband team, and learn how to stay positive during challenging times.

Lance, who calls himself a "misfit," has successfully held a 14-year career in various leadership and management roles within Fortune 500 and 100 companies, respectively. Previously, in the warehousing industry, he led his team to be number one in production and accuracy companywide in the United States. Lance was considered one of the top supervisors nationwide within the organization, surpassing corporate goal expectations. He has been highly recommended by senior executives for motivating and team-building among staff. He has packed up his learned lessons in leadership and management to teach and share with people how to be an impressionable leader and manager through being a "misfit."

Lonoia is a certified professional services marketer (CPSM) with over 13 years of professional public relations and marketing communications experience. She has created successful public awareness programs through effective media application, public relations, and creative strategic marketing for organizations ranging from a nationally recognized nonprofit to a small, local boutique firm. However, in her career, she has seen many new business owners and some not-so-new business owners fail to market their companies and themselves effectively. "There are a few easy tasks that people can do to get exposure, especially on a tight budget," Lonoia says. "It just takes commitment, persistence, patience, and creativity. Also, with the amazing increase in social media tools on the internet, a lot of business owners can think global, if it fits their goals."

Monday, June 27th - The GEN group will carpool to Roswell United Methodist Church for a great night of networking!  Any one interested in going please let Jane Hubbard jane@fpcdouglasville.org know by the Sunday preceding June 20th to form a carpool.
