COMPTROLLER
Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Organization: Georgia Sheriffs’ Association
Location: Stockbridge, GA
Reporting Relationship
The CFO will report to the Executive Director. Direct reports will include the Director of Accounting, the Accountant, AP Clerk.
Organization Background
Founded in 1957, the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association’s mission is to promote and professionalize the Office of Sheriff in order to enhance public safety throughout Georgia. Annual training events, advocacy at the Georgia General Assembly for tough crime control measures and laws, and sponsorship of Youth Homes for fulltime residential care of abused, abandoned and neglected children are among the services provided by the Association.
Responsibilities
The CFO’s responsibilities will include the following:
• Direct the production of consolidated and individual financial statements that are timely and accurate.
• Work with the accounting staff to insure proper month-end and annual close processing.
• Identify and track key metrics to drive the efficiencies of the Association.
• Assist the Executive Director and management team to improve the operational efficiency of the Association.
• Function as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director and the Boards of Directors of the Association.
• Oversee preparation of annual budget forecasts and provide comparative evaluation on a regular basis.
• Liaise with the independent accounting firm and the Audit Oversight Committee of the Board to insure timely annual audits.
• Develop and oversee fiscal compliance policies and procedures.
• Lead implementation and maintenance of financial systems to comply with needs and provide critical financial and operational information.
• Make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
• Develop and oversee fiscal compliance policies and procedures.
• Provide meaningful financial analyses to improve processes and decisions.
• Build a strong financial organization.
• Manage all banking relationships.
• Oversee risk management including insurance company relationships and maintenance of proper coverage.
Qualifications
Candidates should meet the following qualifications:
• A minimum of ten years of progressive financial management and accounting experience in a lead financial role.
• A degree in Finance or Accounting is required. CPA certification is a plus.
• Experience in a non-profit organization required.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
• Highly motivated independent thinker with great personal skills needed.
• Has ability to manage with hands-on involvement.
Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000

Obtain assistance from outside resources to repair or maintain equipment
Oversee all capital expenditure projects related to building enhancements and process improvement
Assures staffing levels are adequate for maintenance demands; adhering to company policies, safety standards, work rules and good housekeeping
Responsible for communications with local power supplier and coordination of on site activity
Manage all aspects of the Carter’s Safety Program to include inspections, corrective actions, training and contractor compliance
Maintain security monitoring systems and controlled facility access for multi-shift operation
Conduct classroom instruction for all operators obtaining Forklift Certification
SUPERVISORY / BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY
Oversee all building equipment operations and functions for 500,000 sq ft facility with $12M material handling equipment
Oversee maintenance technicians, custodians and helpers; conduct performance evaluations; approve payroll recordkeeping
Obtains all quotes for capital expenditures related to building and equipment
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE - ANY DUTIES NOT CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL)
Assists in other areas as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM COMPENTENCIES REQUIRED FOR JOB PERFORMANCE)
Working knowledge of technical processes and procedures in a maintenance environment, along with working knowledge of construction processes
Must have working knowledge of all types of power sources – electrical – gas – water
