GEN-ers, this lead comes from our member Allison, who received it from the manager of volunteer services at Vistacare Hospice. This might be an opportunity for you to help those in need, and/or to network.

Here is the manager's letter:

"As you know, I am the Manager of Volunteer Services for VistaCare Hospice. I am in immediate need of volunteers who are willing to spend time visiting with hospice patients and/or their family members. I have been unsuccessful in this area obtaining volunteers.

The qualifications for volunteering are as follows:
1. Be at least 16 years of age (to volunteer at a nursing or assisted living facility) or 18 or older to visit with patients in the patient's home.
2. Completion of a volunteer application which includes the agreement to submit to a background check.
3. Undergo PPD testing either at their own doctor's office or at the local health department. The charge for this test is $15.00 at Douglas County Health department. This fee will be reimbursed by our company.
4. Undergo volunteer training - a lot of this is independent reading and answering of questions. I can work with anyone's schedule to get this completed.

There is no set time each month required of volunteers and once they have completed training, they can set their own schedule. A typical visit can be anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours depending on the need of the patient and the availability of the volunteer to fill the need.

We currently have need of volunteers in the following counties: Carroll, Haralson, Polk, Paulding, Douglas, and Cobb. Please pass this email on to everyone you know and ask them to pass it on to everyone they know.

Interested persons can contact me at 770 570 7479 or at our office 770 489 4225.

Thank you so much for your help in this important matter!

Sincerely,

Wendy M Harrison, Manager of Volunteer Services
VistaCare Hospice, Douglasville
