Duties and Responsibilities:
The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) is the state's sales and marketing arm and lead agency for generating
business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industries and small businesses, developing new domestic and international markets,
attracting tourists to Georgia. The Department assists in the creation jobs for Georgians and increasing statewide investment.
Business Communications ensures that all marketing opportunities for GDEcD’s Global Commerce Division are fully identified and leveraged in order to position the state of Georgia as a strategic location for foreign direct investment, business expansions, trade and tourism; it also leverages the Agency’s partnerships to best capitalize on its community relationships. The Business Communications Division directly supports the marketing, PR, web, interactive media and community and association relations needs of the Business Enterprise Division of GDEcD.
The primary responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant include:
· Providing support and office administration to assigned functions or program areas
(examples include marketing and PR programs, outreach programs, training
programs, bookkeeping, facilities management, procurement, licensing, etc.).
· Representing Business Communications’ team, providing information and
assistance to internal and external customers, resolving issues and preparing
research data.
· Completing and documenting (e.g. logs, posts, records, etc.) data/information such
as organizational unit area work activity, purchasing, personnel, expenditures
budgeting and payment processing, management of records, program changes,
and resource utilization.
· Planning and coordinating meetings, conferences, seminars, and travel calendars.
· Providing program, administrative, and/or technical assistance to staff; Reviewing
processes, issues reports, fees, intelligence data, etc.
· Proactively identifying ways to contribute to the team’s goals and mission.
· Must have professional communication skills to support the team’s interaction with
mission/ delegation participants and manage vendor relationships.
· Assisting with the corporate gifts program; Processing/ handling team shipments.
· Processing and integrating basic marketing collateral updates.
· Acting as interactive link for various organizations around the metro area (Global
Atlanta, Bi-national chambers, business groups, Allies, economic development
partners, etc.).
· Proficient with the Internet and MS Office Suite including calendar functions, Excel
spreadsheets, database management, mail merge, and research tools. Basic
In-Design skills for content editing and updating.
· Must be able to handle multiple tasks, prioritize workload, use proper judgment and
decision making skills and achieve results independently.
· Must be a team player and work with other administrative staff on special projects
as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or three years of work related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree
· Two or more years of experience performing advanced level administrative support to an agency
