Duties and Responsibilities:
The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) is the primary economic development agency for the State of Georgia. The mission of the Department is to create jobs for Georgians. The International Trade team creates jobs by helping existing Georgia manufacturers and professional services providers to enter or expand their international markets through its trade promotion services. Services provided include international market research, identification of international buyers for Georgia products, assistance for incoming international delegations, and the organization of trade events, internationally and domestically.
The International Trade Manager assists Georgia manufacturers and professional service providers to increase their exports. He/she also works with the economic development community to educate/inform about how exporting is an economic development tool. Primary responsibilities include:
· Assisting qualified companies to develop or increase exports.
· Managing trade promotion events.
· Designing and implementing a creative and effective trade promotion program in his/her assigned industry and geographic region(s) in Georgia.
· Staying informed about international trade issues; documenting results; and assisting with divisional/departmental/USEAC programs.
· Must be culturally sensitive and aware. Have knowledge of world geography and economy, history, current affairs, and international trade issues.
· Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, initiative and self-discipline, and be a team player.
· Must be proficient with the Internet and MS Office Suite.
· Must have strong multi-tasking, sales and administrative skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in international business/trade or related field and two years of related experience Or
Bachelor’s degree in international business/ trade or a related field and one year experience at the entry level International Trade position.
