"Do you know what educational and training programs the GDOL offers to job seekers? What about other helpful resources? Carolyn Coburn-Allen will discuss this topic and others on June 2, 2010 at the weekly C3G Wednesday Women's meeting.
Carolyn Coburn-Allen is an HR professional with more than ten years in this field and she is also a C3G alumni. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in Human Resources Management and has been PHR certified since 2001. She started her career as the HR Manager for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay and it was in this position that she discovered the rewards of contributing one’s skills and knowledge to a non-profit organization.
Several years later, Carolyn joined another non-profit that proved to be an exciting, new attraction for Atlanta, the Georgia Aquarium. She joined the Aquarium team in 2005 as the Recruiter. This was shortly before the Grand Opening and she got her “feet wet” with having to find and hire most of the front-of-the-house staff just six weeks before the Aquarium was set to open. In this position she handled all the hiring below Director-level, allowing her to learn the intricacies of positions ranging from Maintenance to Water Chemists.
Carolyn’s passion for helping job seekers find their next great opportunity recently led her to a position with the Georgia Department of Labor as an Employment Marketing Rep. In this capacity she works with employers to inform and encourage them to use the services of the GDOL.
