CNN predicts truck driver shortage

According to today's DC Sentinel newspaper, national news outlets like CNN have been reporting a "trucker shortage on the horizon as the economy bounces back."

West GA Technical College (WGTC) is offering classes in Commercial Truck Driving and Commercial Straight Truck and Passenger Driving. Classes are taught at the Carrollton and LaGrange campuses. WGTC has the largest instructional truck fleet in the state, and offers 10 to 15 week programs.

Terry Turner CDL instructor at the college's Carroll campus, says, "When students graduate, they'll have all their hours and will have finished the state tests. They're ready to hit the road and make a good living." According to the American Transportation Research Institute, truckers average $49,006 per year.
