Position Title: Communications Manager - Rural Metro Corporation
This position has primary responsibilities of direct employee supervision and management of the EMS Communications Department. This position also provides support and administration of technological implements including Windows workstations, networking, communications, applications and the Computer Aided Dispatch System.
Essential Functions:
Daily contact with and management of Communications Supervisors and Dispatchers
Administer, install, maintain, update, upgrade, design, and purchase necessary computer hardware, software and communications equipment
Create budget for department
Provide reporting and information services to enhance decision making
Track and evaluate systemic problems
Track and evaluate system changes
Track and evaluate system performance
Respond to any inquiries
All other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
3-5 years of EMS and/or dispatch related experience/training including knowledge of CAD system software
3-5 years in a supervisory role is preferred.
Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification is preferred.
Applicant must possess strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
Excellent multi-tasking and problem solving skills
Must be able to think quickly and accurately through a multitude of situations
Experience with information services and technology
Education Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in a clean office environment with no adverse conditions of temperature or weather. May work irregular schedule/hours.
