The Accountant will be responsible for sales tax reporting and compliance. The successful candidate will timely and accurately complete assigned duties. This person will possess excellent analytical and written/oral communications skills, a working knowledge of sales tax laws and general office software programs, such as but not limited to Microsoft Office.

Requirements

• 2-3 years prior accounting experience
• Accounting degree
• Prior sales tax experience a plus
• Strong organizational skills
• Competence with general office software programs, such as Microsoft Office.
• Analytical, detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks
• Strong oral and written communications skills.
• Team oriented eager to learn

Major Responsibilities

• sales tax reporting
• sales tax exemption certificate compliance
• sales tax registration renewals
• general ledger reconciliations
• preparation of journal entries
• resolution of jurisdictional notices
• monthly bank reconciliations
• various audit duties
• credit and re-bill of customer invoices with tax errors
• record retention organization and management

The Staff Accountant is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities associated with ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial and regulatory information. Such action is consistent with sound business judgment, within the goals and objectives of the company and when necessary, subject to approval of the director of tax and compliance.
